Peeking at the Cable News Ratings – Olympics Edition

Yes, more people watched us than Olbermann !

Since MSNBC and CNBC were running hockey and curling instead of some of their news shows on this date, Fox seemed to still beat them all ! However, Olbermann was defeated in the 8 p.m. slot by either USA curling, or a men’s/women’s hockey game between other countries. I thought that was notable, as was CNN and HLN getting clobbered.

Cruising Along the Bloggy Highway 6/4/09

Notes from my rest stops…….

Conservative Hot Air liked Obama’s Cairo speech by reviewing the entire speech and not depending on sound bytes and youtube clips. Also, I never miss peeking at the Obamateurism of the Day and today’s is a doozy of O’hypocrisy…..Obama not wanting to ask people for money (during a recession!) to help Hillary retire her campaign debt, but flies to Vegas to help Reid raise funds for his campaign during this very same recession!

Over at The Daily Beast, Mark McKinnon handicaps 11 Republicans for 2012—and explains why Obama might not be a lock for two terms.

Not Your Sweetie reads the tabloids so we don’t have to !

Greta Van Susteren’s Gretawire has a new format. Let her know what you think! I love when she liveblogs from the road and sends photos of behind the scenes of her show. No wonder she’s beating the ratings pants off AC360, her show’s “on” 24/7 !

RedState’s James Richardson reports that almost 3,000 “dead” Minnesota voters cast ballots for Coleman or Franken last fall. Developing…….uh huh, ACORN is mentioned in the article too.

NYT’s blog, The Caucus, reports that while the President was taping his formal interview with NBC news anchor Brian Williams, Obama also fit in a “spoof interview” for The Tonight Show’s Conan O’Brien. Will we be able to tell which is which?

Alegre’s Corner discusses Obama’s “gaping hole” in his Cairo speech and a missed opportunity to bring up violence against women and girls in Muslim countries and stand up for women’s rights. Heartbreaking.

myiq2xu at The Confluence takes us on The Low Road 2008 pointing out the ten lowest points of fauxrage of the 2008 Democratic Primary. We must never forget.

Are you outraged by waterboarding as torture? Then don’t click here. You might change your mind.

Stray Yellar Dog does a kick ass radio interview about Independents-formerly-known-as-Democrats , Pumas, The New Agenda and her Hillary Supporters for Sarah Palin group at Team Sarah. About 15 minutes, so grab a cuppa and enjoy.

I had no idea Fox News ratings were better than ALL the other news channels COMBINED TOTAL. Here’s proof.

This was fun! Obviously, I much rather read blogs than write them 🙂

I wonder why? Hmmmmmmm? From TVNewser:

February Ratings: FNC Beats CNN and MSNBC Combined in Total Viewers

Fox News was the ratings leader during prime time and total day during February 2009 — its 86th month on top. FNC averaged more Total Viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined in prime time and total day.

FNC had nine out of the top 10 programs in cable news last month in Total Viewers. The O’Reilly Factor was #1 for the 99th consecutive month, and was up 33% in Total Viewers compared to February 2008. The other top programs included Hannity (up 38%), Glenn Beck (the 5pmET hour was up 100%), The FOX Report with Shepard Smith (up 30%) and On the Record with Greta Van Susteren (up 24%).

On the Record also reclaimed the lead in the 25-54 demographic, up 4% year to year. At 7pmET, FOX Report was up 28% in the demo, The O’Reilly Factor was up 44% and “Hannity” up 34%.

FNC’s third newly launched show, “Special Report with Bret Baier,” was up 38% in Total Viewers and the demo compared to last year. Baier’s new program, Beck’s and Sean Hannity’s solo hour at 9pmET beat CNN and MSNBC combined in Total Viewers during their respective time periods.

In total day, FNC is up 29%, MSNBC 17% and CNN 2% in Total Viewers, and FNC is up 24%, MSNBC 7% and CNN is down 14% in the demo.

In prime time, FNC is up 28%, MSNBC 23% and CNN is down 30% in Total Viewers, while FNC is up 21%, MSNBC 3% and CNN is down 44% in the demo.

A year ago, I would have shoved glass shards in my eyes and ears before I would turn on the Fox Channel, but now? Yes, I need them now, too bad I didn’t listen to them then. Also, starting the day with Steve Doocy is a great jumpstart to sunshine, even on the cloudiest days.
